This icon of NZ literature will be honoured up in Auckland in a couple of weeks time at the writers festival. This image was taken for Metro magazine at her home in Hongoeka Bay.
I photographed Wellington poet Maria McMillan last week for her new collection ‘Tree Space’ to be published by Victoria University Press.
The March issue of Metro Magazine has some documentary photographs which I did at a slaughter house to accompany a story on meat safety. I must say I came away feeling slightly shell shocked from the experience, the reality is quite gruesome for the uninitiated.
We had a sea fog that lingered for a few days here last week. The sun eventually won the battle on this day and broke free restoring summer for us.
These portraits are of artist Kedron Parker whose new installation piece will open on the 17th February. The work is a soundscape of natural river sounds which play within the underground tunnel which links Woodward Street with the Terrace here in Wellington.
I photographed young and up and coming author Kerry Donovan Brown earlier this week at Makara. Kerrys book ‘Lamplighter’ won the prestigious Adam Foundation Prize in Creative Writing for 2012 and is about to be published by Victoria University Press.
Photographed Dylan Horrocks yesterday for Victoria University Press. Dylans fantastic graphic novel “Hicksville”opened my eyes to the genre. He has an anthology of earlier works coming out this year with VUP as well as another graphic novel ‘The Magic Pen’ being published next year. Excerpts from this are on his website.
Here’s a portrait from a shoot I did with author and historian Dr Damien Fenton at the Wellington War Memorial. Penguin has just released his book about New Zealands involvement in the First World War in time for the 100 year anniversary next year.
I photographed New Zealand composer, producer and musician David Long yesterday around the corner at Red Rocks. He has just finished composing the music for the feature film about Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgays ascent of Mt Everest called Beyond the Edge.
